“Through my teaching and learning over the past 11 years, I have come to realize that education, commerce, politics and religion must be engaged in the concrete realities of children and adults who endure the climate changes that debilitate human flourishing. The best way to respond to environmental injustice is together, to collaborate for collective impact. All of us want to do good, and the establishment of an environmental justice non-profit is evidence of that fact. As a leader, I am not tasked with pushing others into action, but rather to pull others into the place where inertia was already leading. Groundwork Erie is here to pull all of us together in order that we respond to the very real problems that confront both us, and our children's children.”

OUTREACH AND EDUCATION SPECIALIST INTERN
Willie is a 29 year old senior at Gannon University that majors in psychology. He is the outreach specialist for the Green team. Motivated, and essential team player that never loses sight of the objective.

Samantha Houser
MAPPING SPECIALIST AND URBAN FARM INTERN
Born and raised in Kansas, Samantha came to PA to continue her education in Freshwater and Marine Biology at Gannon. Her focus is to be an advocate for climate change and to protect the earth. She plays rugby, loves to read, travel, workout and watch movies.

Eli Wolper
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR AND AMERICORPS VISTA
Born and raised in Erie, Eli grew up mostly in the neighborhood of Cascade and West 5th St. They went to Gannon University for Public Service and Global Affairs. Eli joined Groundwork Erie in May of 2023. Their interests lie primarily in urban farming and incorporating native habitat into urban landscaping. Please ask them about plants.
